ICVP opened the state’s first Training & Coaching Institute dedicated to affordable, comprehensive training in violence prevention and integrated on-site coaching and consultation to facilitate training knowledge application. This project will expand and coordinate ICVP’s work to build the capacity of community-based organizations, schools, and systems to implement effective, quality programs based on acknowledged best practices, evidence-based models, and innovative and promising violence prevention practices.
This formal institute builds upon one of ICVP's major mission areas to provide information, technical assistance, intensive consultation and training designed to build the capacity of organizations, communities and systems to identify and implement comprehensive violence prevention efforts.
Currently, we host trainings throughout the year, an annual conference, events and workshops and regional meetings that integrate training and networking opportunities in four regions throughout Illinois. We also respond to hundreds of information requests and provide on-site, individualized technical assistance and consultation to violence prevention programs. The Training & Coaching Institute will also offer Coaching services to help training participants apply information learned into on-site practice.
Three times a year, we publish Violence Prevention News, an informational newsletter on best practices, resources, and trends in the field of violence prevention. This newsletter is sent to ICVP's membership, and in July 2005 our first e-newsletter will be available.
Programs, schools, and individuals frequently call on us for information and referrals on violence prevention research, best practice programs, statistics, and local resources to connect with. We encourage you to navigate our site, especially the PreventNet database to find local resources in your community and Resources pages which has multiple links to resource sites around the country.
