PeaceLeader and Director's Award
The Highly Esteemed Award for Leadership in Violence Prevention

Each year, the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention (ICVP) honors leaders in the field of violence prevention through the PeaceLeader Award.

The PeaceLeader Award, inaugurated by ICVP in 1997, recognizes individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their efforts to reduce violence in their communities. PeaceLeader Award recipients are selected based on criteria that include: leadership; demonstrated impact; and recognition among peers.

The Illinois Center for Violence Prevention initiated the Director’s Award in 1999 in recognition of the outstanding contributions of individuals who are not professionals in the field of violence prevention, but who have made extraordinary contributions to the safety and welfare of their fellow community members.  The Director’s Award seeks to acknowledge the important role that every person in every neighborhood and every community plays in keeping it safe and violence free.

PeaceLeader Award and Director's Award recipients are honored and receive their award during ICVP's Annual PeaceLeader Luncheon, the centerpiece event of the confernce.
