Building on the momentum from ICVP's first two charity benefits, The Art of Peace 2005 melded a nightclub environment, rockin' silent auction, rhythmic raffle, and special honor for Art Moore's contributions to the violence prevention Community.

More than $80,000 was raised in support of ICVP's work to prevent and reduce violence across Illinois.  We are grateful for all the event sponsors, donors, and guests that contributed to the event proceeds.

Transit was the unlikely but welcome venue for ICVP's nightclub-inspired event, which was emceed for the third year running by CLTV's LeeAnn Trotter.  DJ's CZR, Dave Alvarez and Sundance spun a mix of tracks ranging from electronica to disco that brought energy and dancing feet to the floor.  A record-breaking crowd of 230+ was in attendance.

Art's message included a call for more men's voices to join the movement.

This year a special honor was bestowed to Art Moore, ICVP's immediate past chair and current Leadership Council member, in recognition of the leadership, personal involvement, and contributions he has made to the field of violence prevention. Following his introduction, a video tribute was shown with such notables as US Senator Barack Obama, philanthropic leader Sunny Fischer, activist Barbara Engel, Marquette Partners principal Rob Moore, and Art's son, Ted. Art then took the stage with an inspiring message that included a call for more men to add their voices to the movement, as the majority of perpetrators of violence are men.

Honoree Art Moore is flanked by executive Director Debbie Bretag and board chair Ed Cooper, III.

Following ICVP's tribute, the Heads or Tails raffle commenced, raising more than $3,400 in ticket sales for A Rock Star Evening, which included Two Club Level Tickets to Paul McCartney's October 19 concert at United Center, $150 certificate to The Peninsula Chicago's Shanghai Terrace restaurant, limousine service, and Sir Paul's latest release, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard!

Humming their favorite dance tunes on their way home, guests received a surprise $25 Ultra Diamonds gift card...and inquired: what lies ahead for next year's fundraiser?
