Evaluation Resource Institute
Mission
With the devastation that interpersonal violence brings to families and communities, there is an urgency to ensure that our prevention efforts are meeting their objectives to reduce violence. The best method for this is process and outcome evaluation. Moreover, in a time of competition over available resources, there is an increasing need to demonstrate and validate the impact of prevention programs. Although the desire for evaluation may be great, the process of conducting a professional program evaluation offers many challenges.
Purpose
To provide the violence prevention community of Illinois with the knowledge, tools, expertise, and training necessary to design and implement effective program evaluations.
Objectives
Our objective is to positively impact the well-being of people. Evaluation furthers this objective by providing ongoing, systematic information that strengthens projects during their life cycle. ICVP works to impact the violence prevention community in the following four ways:
- Build the capacity of violence prevention organizations to implement effective process and evaluation tools;
- Educate the violence prevention community about the importance of program evaluations and its components.
- Increase awareness of the tools and resources necessary for effective evaluation; and
- Provide consultation to the violence prevention community on designing and implementing effective evaluation tools.
