Best Practices Institute

Who We Are

ICVP is the state’s first Best Practice Institute (BPI) dedicated to affordable, comprehensive training in violence prevention, evaluation as well as integrated on-site coaching and consultation to facilitate training knowledge, skills acquisition and application for direct service workers. The Best Practice Institute is central to the Center's goal of building the capacity of community-based organizations, schools, and systems to implement effective, quality programs based on acknowledged best practices, evidence-based models, and innovative and/or promising violence prevention practices.

The Best Practice Institute provides a seamless capacity building and quality improvement system for violence prevention programs and evaluation in Chicago and across Illinois. This institute builds the Center's mission to provide information, technical assistance, intensive consultation and training designed to build the capacity of organizations, communities and systems; thus identifying and implementing comprehensive violence prevention efforts. Since 1992, the Center has provided capacity building services and comprehensive training opportunities to hundreds of Illinois agencies. These agencies include human services, youth after-school programs and schools in need of implementing or developing program, curriculum, strategies or initiatives on violence prevention and evaluation.
