How We Work
Policy and Advocacy
ICVP is dedicated to preventing violence at every stage of life. One of the ways we do this is through effective advocacy of strong policy initiatives that support violence prevention efforts in the areas of youth violence, domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse. We do this at the local, state, and federal levels.
We also work to raise awareness and public support of these programs among policy makers, the media and the public. Our goal is to work for policies and increased funding that serve to improve everyone’s quality of life by keeping them safe from violence in school, at home, and in their communities.
ICVP does this in several ways:
- Advocacy: Advocating for greater funding and program improvements that support violence prevention efforts across the state.
- Generating Public Support: Building public support for our work to improve the program delivery for violence prevention programs.
- Networking: We promote information sharing, collaboration, and policy action among violence prevention providers, advocates, families, and youth.
